There's an excessive heat warning in Phoenix through Thursday

Phoenix-area heat continues to get more intense as the month of July progresses.

The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning until Thursday. It forecasts highs being well above 110 degrees throughout the work week. Several days are forecast to near record highs.

Meteorologist Ryan Worley says to make preparations for avoiding the extreme temperatures.

"Plan to be outside, hydrate as much as possible. If you don’t have to be outside, it’s recommended to not be outside during the hottest parts of the day. Try to make plans both in the morning or later in the evening if possible," he said.

Worley says even low temperatures are expected to be high. However there may be some relief with the possibility of rain arriving towards the end of the week.
