An international food manufacturer is building its second production facility in southwest Phoenix.

With facilities in the U.S. and Asia, United Foods International (USA), Inc. produces private label items for retailers and restaurants, mostly liquid products like hot sauces, dressings and marinades, and dry products like batter, baking and soup mixes.

United Foods’ second Phoenix location in Laveen Village is adjacent to Loop 202, in a fast-growing industrial corridor. The 126,000-square-foot facility will have advanced spray dryers and initially process more than 2.5 million gallons of liquids into powders annually, with capabilities to double in the future.

In a statement, Take Shimura, president and COO of United Foods International, said, "We are thrilled to bring our unique and authentic food products to the vibrant city of Phoenix. Beyond the mainstream flavors, our goal is to provide consumers with a taste of Japanese and Asian cultures through our diverse range of offerings, while also supporting the local economy by creating jobs and partnerships with local suppliers."

The company said it expects to hire upwards of a hundred people when the plant is fully operational.
