Prior to joining the KJZZ team, Monroe worked as an editorial intern at the National Journal in Washington, D.C., where she covered policy, the reinstatement of the Trump administration and congressional campaigns for the National Journal Daily and Hotline. Beyond breaking news coverage, Monroe contributed to the Hotline's daily newsletter, the Latest Edition, and produced and edited the National Journal's podcast.
Monroe has also dabbled in climate policy and sustainability reporting. In April 2025, Monroe was named a Society of Environmental Journalists fellow, where she contributed to boots-on-the-ground coverage of SEJ's annual conference as a part of a student newsroom led by the Arizona Republic. Monroe was also a sustainability beat reporter at the Cronkite News Bureau in Washington, D.C., where she got her first taste of regional reporting and congressional correspondence. In fall 2024, Monroe was a part of Cronkite News' Election Day coverage, where she reported on abortion ballot measures throughout the country.
In her free time, you can catch Monroe working out, reading a book, hitting the town or staying in to watch movies with friends and loved ones.
