Runway 3/21 will be closed for six nights starting Oct. 18 and will be fully closed starting Oct. 24, before reopening at noon on Oct. 31. Crews will seal the pavement and scrap-off built up rubber from tires in the landing zones. -
Valley Metro is redesigning its bus network to include more frequent service, reduce duplicate routes and ensure easier transfers between buses and other forms of transit. The plan proposes changes to more than half of the 97 routes. -

The Mesa City Council approved landing fees at Falcon Field airport in March to help keep the airport self-sustaining. In April, the Federal Aviation Administration initiated a review over concerns the fees target specific airport users. -
The loss of the Y chromosome is a common genetic change in aging men that also occurs in cancer cells. This was previously thought to be an all-or-nothing event, but a new study from the University of Arizona found that Y chromosome loss is more of a spectrum. -
The biosolid company AgTech LLC is appealing the State Land Department’s decision to cancel its leases on State Trust Land, alleging the state failed to follow due process. -
The department’s first e-bike teams were deployed last month to enable rescue teams to get to rural areas with rugged terrain more quickly. The e-bikes can carry medical supplies and rescue equipment to allow firefighters to provide necessary care and manage rescue operations while waiting for additional crews. -
Yuma physician Irfan Fazil has been convicted on four felony counts related to a massive fraud scheme against AHCCCS — the state’s Medicaid system. The Arizona Attorney General’s Office says Fazil billed patients for services they never received.
