While 2025 is giving most Arizonans a break casting ballots, voters in the 7th Congressional District will head to the polls this year to pick a new representative to replace Raúl Grijalva, who died earlier this year. The crowded slate of candidates includes frontrunners Adelita Grijalva, the late Congressman's daughter and a former county supervisor, and Daniel Hernandez, a former state lawmaker who had worked for Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.

But there’s a third candidate in the race, who has an impressive resume. Deja Foxx is just 25 and would be the youngest member of Congress if elected. Though she's young, Foxx has been involved in Democratic politics for a while, working as an influencer for Kamala Harris’ 2020 presidential campaign and filling a speaking slot at the Democratic National Committee last year. Foxx doesn't have the same big name endorsements or campaign infrastructure as Grijalva or Hernandez, but she does know how to connect with Generation Z online and on social media.

Prickly podcast sat down with Foxx to find out why she thinks its time for Arizonans to send a Gen Z lawmaker to Congress.
