Sen. Mark Kelly defended Vice President Kamala Harris’ record on the economy during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.” His response comes before voters across the country make their decisions on which presidential candidate to elect to the White House.
The economic performance of the current presidential administration faces both criticism and praise.
The Arizona senator says Kamala Harris is committed to bringing down costs for groceries, health care, housing and education.
Kelly says Trump’s economy would bring consequences.
“Donald Trump’s concept of a plan includes 20% tariffs on everything that comes into this country, which is gonna mean an increase in costs of about $4,000 a year,” he said.
Along with criticizing Trump’s plan for increasing costs as a result of his tariffs, Kelly said Donald Trump would end the program bringing chip manufacturing to the United States and Arizona.
“Donald Trump last week said he was gonna kill the CHIPS Act, which is bringing all these semiconductor manufacturing jobs, and just this week, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson confirmed that if Donald Trump is president, they’re gonna end this program,” he said.
Despite Speaker Johnson walking back on his comment about ending the CHIPS Act, Kelly said he heard Johnson’s initial statement “very clear.”
