Attorney General Kris Mayes says she needs additional funding to address school-voucher fraud.

At a press conference Thursday. Mayes called for the Legislature to provide more money to both her office and the Department of Education to better investigate and prosecute Empowerment Scholarship Account abuses.

"I will continue to do these prosecutions for as long as I have to, but it’s going to be like playing whack-a-mole with these fraudsters," Mayes said.

Two people indicted last month allegedly received more than $100,000 from the ESA program by submitting claims for over 40 children who did not exist.
