An executive order from the Trump administration has halted more than $27 million worth of funding for some restoration projects on tribal lands in Arizona.
Two projects on the Navajo Nation and one on Hopi land were being directly funded by the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction Act.
More than $25 million was going toward restoring the Navajo’s Chinle Wash Watershed, which has been impacted by prolonged drought.
But among the executive orders signed by President Donald Trump on his first day in office was one that immediately paused the disbursement of funds from the Biden administration’s act.
That means more than $388 million worth of wildlife restoration projects across New Mexico, Utah, tribal lands and Colorado was paused, too.
