Calling it part of the Trump administration’s effort to eliminate government bloat, Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs, a Republican, recently introduced a bill to abolish the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

OSHA has enforced health and safety standards in both private and public workplaces since the 1970s. Biggs argues OSHA is usurping authority best left to individual states.

"Even in states that have higher occupational safety health standards like Arizona does, we are always subject to federal meddling that in some cases, and frankly in most cases, is unconstitutional," Biggs said.

Biggs alleges the Biden administration violated the constitution by using OSHA to require private businesses to enforce vaccine mandates. A similar bill introduced in 2021 failed to make it out of committee.
