A bill that would take $400,000 from the state’s general fund to boost the Arizona Address Confidentiality Program has passed the Senate Appropriations Committee.
The program helps victims of domestic violence, sexual offenses or stalking from being located by the perpetrator through public records.
The program provides a substitute address and confidential mail forwarding services to individuals and families across Arizona. House Republican Julie Willoughby is the bill’s sponsor.
“It is extremely confidential and this way, they can still receive mail," Willoughby said. "They can still move on with their lives and start to do the healing that is required after such horrific events in their lives.”
The committee passed the bill unanimously. It now goes to the Senate Rules Committee for evaluation.
