A group of U.S. Senate Democrats are pushing the Trump administration to stop revoking student visas.
Arizona’s Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego signed on to a letter sent this week.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reversed course on some student visa terminations last week.
In the letter to the heads of the Department of Homeland Security DHS and ICE, the senators said the actions to revoke student visas were not aligned with federal law.
They cited a report that stated about 4,700 students across the country had their visas revoked without justification.
The senators said the Trump Administration is violating federal law as it has not notified students of their terminated visa status. Instead, the letter says many students have learned about the cancellations through the schools they are attending instead.
