Arizona is one of 10 states with an abortion-related measure on ballots in 2024.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday that a petition circulator was indicted for submitting fake signatures to get a pro-abortion measure on the 2024 ballot.

Anthony Harris was indicted for allegedly falsifying signatures last April for the Arizona Abortion Access Act.

On the ballot, it was labeled Prop 139. It established a fundamental right to abortion up to fetal viability in the state constitution. The measure passed with 62% of the vote.

The amount of signatures Harris allegedly forged would not have made any difference in whether the initiative qualified to make it on the ballot.

Harris also allegedly registered as a circulator even though past convictions made him ineligible.

He now faces two felony charges and two misdemeanors.
