A federal judge ruled Thursday morning that the Trump administration must restore hundreds of millions of dollars in AmeriCorps grant funding in about two dozen states, including Arizona.

The ruling also requires hundreds of service workers to be reinstated.

U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman granted a temporary block on the agency’s grant cancellations and early discharge of corps members.

In a statement, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said the Trump administration’s attempts to dismantle the agency were wrong and unlawful.

The order only applies to states like Arizona that sued in April. AmeriCorps oversees several programs that dispatch aid funding and tens of thousands of people who serve communities across the country.

The states accused Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency of illegally retracting grants approved by Congress.

The lawsuit was filed by officials in Maryland; Delaware; California; Colorado; Arizona; Connecticut; Washington, D.C.; Hawaii; Illinois; Kentucky; Maine; Massachusetts; Michigan; Minnesota; Nevada; New Jersey; New Mexico; New York; North Carolina; Oregon; Pennsylvania; Rhode Island; Vermont; Washington and Wisconsin.
