An Arizona congresswoman is demanding answers from the Trump administration about conditions at the immigration detention center in Eloy.
Democrat Rep. Yassamin Ansari visited the facility in late May. She said she spoke to more than 20 people detained there who voiced complaints about inhumane treatment.
Among the complaints, Ansari said detainees told her they were forced to walk laps outside until one person fainted. They reported that staff turned off air conditioning then suddenly turned it back on to low temperatures, sickening some people.
She asked Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to address these complaints and demonstrate through documentation how Homeland Security manages the detention of those in custody at Eloy.
She gave DHS until Monday to respond.
