Ballots are in the mail to Tucson voters for an August election to help determine the next members of the City Council.
This is a primary election for three out of the six wards that make up the city.
Midtown Tucson’s Ward 6 and southside Tucson’s Ward 5 will both have new representation — after longtime Democrats Steve Kozachik resigned in March last year, and Richard Fimbres left his post in May.
City leaders appointed former Councilmember Karin Uhlich to head Ward 6 and Roque Perez to head Ward 5 until the new election, but neither is running to stay in office.
Council member Kevin Dahl is seeking reelection in Ward 3. But a slew of candidates are challenging him in an election that could reshape the city council.
Election day in Tucson is Tuesday, Aug. 5.
