Charlie Kirk’s widow — Erika Kirk — is taking her late husband’s place as the new CEO of conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA, which is based in Phoenix.

The Turning Point board announced Thursday that Kirk was unanimously elected CEO and board chair.

“In prior discussions, Charlie expressed to multiple executives that this is what he wanted in the event of his death,” board members said in a statement.

Last week, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at an outdoor event in Utah.

Erika Kirk is a former Miss Arizona, podcaster and nonprofit founder. She’s been with Kirk since they started dating in 2019 and has taken an active role in many Turning Point events.

Thousands gathered Monday at ASU’s Desert Financial Arena to mourn Charlie Kirk and pledged to continue his legacy.

“The evildoers responsible for my husband's assassination have no idea what they have done,” Erika Kirk said in an address after her husband’s death. “If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before you have no idea. You have no idea what you have just unleashed across this entire country and this world. You have no idea. You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife. The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.”

She urged listeners to get involved with Turning Point and the church.

“Charlie I promise I will never let your legacy die, baby, I won’t. I promise I’ll make Turning Point USA the biggest thing that this nation has ever seen,” she said.

Erika Kirk is also scheduled to appear at a memorial service for her late husband on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
