Last week, the newly appointed San Tan Valley Town Council selected the newly incorporated town’s first mayor: Daren Schnepf.
A member of the council, he’s also the cousin of the owner of a local business, Schnepf Farms.
Schnepf says it was important for San Tan Valley to incorporate given how rapidly it has grown over the years.
“So that’s what’s important for us citizens to be able to have that opportunity to control and to say and to help direct how we want to live as a community,” he said.
As mayor, Schnepf says he hopes to improve the roads and develop more businesses in the area.
