Members of Arizona’s congressional delegation from both parties celebrated the release of Israeli hostages that were held by Hamas, and praised President Donald Trump for negotiating the peace deal signed in Egypt.

In a statement, Republican Congressman Abe Hamadeh credited the Trump administration for negotiating the deal.

“In a day some thought would never come, the remaining Israeli hostages have been freed and returned to their families,” Hamadeh said. “It was a day 737 days in the making and one that wouldn’t have been possible without the bold leadership of President Trump and the hard diplomatic work of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner and the entire Trump Administration.”

On CNN, Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly also said Trump deserves recognition.

“I think he should get a lot of credit. I mean, this was his deal. He worked this out. He sent Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner over to negotiate this, and it so far has gone well,” Kelly said.

Still, he expressed concern that the agreement may not hold due to possible sticking points, including requiring Hamas to disarm.

“I think it’s possible. I am concerned that they may change their minds here,” Kelly said.

But, right now, Kelly said he is happy that the Israeli hostages were reunited with their families, and that more aid is flowing into Gaza.

“It’s good to see the 600 aid trucks,” Kelly said. “That should have been happening over the last two years, feed people who just, are starving and struggling.”

Kelly said he hopes other countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, will make good on their commitments to help rebuild Gaza.
