Come January, Gilbert’s town manager is headed to Glendale to do the same job for $400,000 a year plus benefits.
The Glendale City Council unanimously approved on Tuesday on Patrick Banger as successor to retiring Kevin Phelps.
“And this vote isn’t just about selecting a new city manager, it’s about the future of Glendale for the next decades to come,” said Lupe Conchas, council member.
In Gilbert, Banger oversaw a police department that was widely criticized after journalists exposed unchecked teen violence by a group called the Gilbert Goons that preceded the fatal beating of Preston Lord.
