Arizona Congressman Greg Stanton and Tempe Mayor Corey Woods are urging residents to fill out damage reports to help the city receive federal funding after Monday’s destructive microburst.

Damage forms can be found at tempe.gov/TempeStorm.

Stanton says he has reached out to government agencies, including FEMA, for support. But he says that FEMA has been experiencing delays.

“It’s a critically important function of the federal government, and should not be passed on to the states and tell them you’re on your own. Americans support fellow Americans. That’s what the disaster recovery process is all about,” he said.

Woods says he does not know how many reports will be needed to receive federal funding, but the city needs as many people as possible to fill out the forms.

Interim Fire Chief Darrell Duty says damage assessment teams have made 450 reports, and they had received about 75 self-assessments from residents as of Thursday night.
