Democrat and Republican gubernatorial candidates are urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to invest in Arizona’s rural health care.

GOP U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs has invited the Medicare and Medicaid administrator to tour Arizona, writing in a Monday letter that no state is more worthy of rural health care investment.

Biggs also writes that Arizona looks forward to receiving a fair share of funding and a chance to be an innovation leader.

Days earlier, Gov. Katie Hobbs and bipartisan lawmakers called on the administrator to approve the state’s new application for roughly $180 million in rural healthcare grant money.

Hobbs could face a challenge from Biggs next November if Biggs wins the Republican nomination.
