Leaked texts from Democratic Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego disparage other Democrats on messaging and appearance.
A conservative outlet called Human Events obtained and published private text messages from Gallego last week.
Gallego wrote that Democrats are seen as the “not fun party” and not “allowing men to men” or “women to be hot.”
Then he wrote, “Dem women look like Dem men and Dem men look like women.”
In another message, Gallego commented on a meme of Connecticut Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro labeled “if erectile dysfunction had a face.” Gallego responded “they aren’t wrong!”
Gallego told ABC15 he was heartbroken that the messages were leaked by a longtime friend — who is unnamed.
He said his comments reiterate what he’s said for years, that he thinks the Democratic Party should be more inclusive.
Gallego did not respond to requests for comment about his comments on Democrats’ physical appearance.
