A bipartisan group of 35 U.S. House members are urging leaders to act to prevent health insurance premiums from making a steep jump in January.
Arizona Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani is among the group that unveiled legislative framework on Thursday to extend savings on premiums for two years.
"This is a short-term way to address this emergency and there is longer term policy on the reform that we are going to work on later. But I’m committed to doing the work today," Ciscomani said.
Expiring health care subsidies were a rallying point for Democrats in the extended government shutdown.
