The Trump administration this week announced a new aid package that will deliver $12 billion to farmers across the country. It’s meant to help agricultural producers harmed by his tariffs.
$11 billion in aid will be used for the Farmer Bridge Assistance program to deliver one-time payments to row crop planting farmers in need.
Julie Murphree with the Arizona Farm Bureau said this funding will specifically help Arizona cotton growers who are struggling to budget for 2026.
"Cotton exports tanked 25% from tariffs. So the cotton farmers in Arizona will certainly appreciate this," Murphree said.
Murphree said payments should arrive as early as February and are dependent on what a farm produces and how much. Regardless, she said these one-time payments will serve as a lifeline for Arizona's tariff-hit farmers.
