A high school playoff basketball game caught the attention of an Arizona lawmaker over allegations that players were spit on and called racially abusive names.

According to Representative Myron Tsosie (D-Chinle), players from Chinle High School faced this alleged conduct following a playoff loss to students from Coolidge High School on Friday.

Tsosie says he received messages from Chinle High School families and fans related to the basketball game.

He says he is collecting videos and witness statements related to the events. He plans to issue a complaint to the Arizona Interscholastic Association, the organization that oversees high school athletics across the state.
