At the request of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport’s Transportation Security Administration, St. Mary’s Food Bank hosted a special mobile pantry distribution on Wednesday.
More than 200 TSA workers showed up.
The agency is entering its third missed pay period as the partial government shutdown continues.
“We are distributing protein including meat, eggs, cheese and peanut butter. We have fresh fruit and produce," said Milt Liu, who heads the food bank.
"We have canned goods, we have pasta, we have rice, and we have beverages. So about $75 in groceries for every TSA employee."
He also said the food bank is prepared to do another special mobile pantry if need be.
