A bill moving in the Arizona Legislature would keep homeowners associations from prohibiting residents from displaying the American flag or any type of military flag on their property.
The bill would also allow the Arizona state flag, POW-MIA flags and first responder flags.
Republican Rep. Walt Blackman says HOAs should not be allowed to muzzle a veteran’s patriotic expression.
"They have left pieces of them on battlefields as we will see in this upcoming war," he said. "So men and women have a right to have something like this."
Democrats offered an amendment to include the Pride flag on the list of permitted flags, but Republicans voted that down.
