The Arizona Senate passed a bill Thursday that would require the state’s major utilities to file a report every six months detailing new extra high load users, like data centers.
The reports to the Arizona Corporation Commission would have to include the number of new connections and connection requests.
Democratic Sen. Mitzi Epstein was one of the three no-votes, saying it should apply to all utility providers, not just major ones, and that more could be done.
"Repeal the data center tax incentives, because it’s foolish to keep them any longer. They are no longer needed, they are just a drain on our budget," Epstein said.
The bill now goes back to the House.
