Veterans say there’s a gap between Arizona service organizations and actual veterans that’s preventing assistance from reaching those in need. That message was delivered to Gov. Katie Hobbs on Thursday in a roundtable with veterans in Chandler.
Participants told her not enough of the funding allocated to veterans services actually makes it to the veterans who need it.
Hobbs said she’ll get to work on better coordinating those state services.
“I think that I have my marching orders to continue to work to make sure the Department of Veterans’ Services is doing their job and the veterans advisory council to make sure we’re connecting folks to the help and support that they need,” Hobbs said.
The Arizona Veterans Advisory Commission is a division of the state’s Veterans’ Services Department. The purpose of the department is to connect veterans with benefits.
