Medicare’s open enrollment period — which allows individuals to change health or prescription drug plans — will come to a close on Saturday.

Linda Somo is the president of the Arizona Alliance of Retired Americans.

She says a big win for Medicare recipients is the Inflation Reduction Act, "Which has finally, after a 20 year battle, enabled Congress to be able to negotiate or enable Medicare to be able to negotiate the cost of some of the most commonly used prescription drugs for senior citizens, and some of the most expensive ones."

Another big benefit for Medicare recipients in 2025 — the cap for out-of-pocket costs for covered Part D drugs will drop dramatically to $2,000.
