Oregon Health & Science University researchers are developing a promising new blood test that could provide a way to catch pancreatic cancer earlier in more patients.
The early screening is called the PAC-MANN test. Dr. Madappa Kundranda is with Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center.
“So this is one thing which requires a very small amount of blood. And blood draws, for the most part, are non-invasive, and the turnaround time is less than an hour," Kundranda said.
Kundranda says one of the reasons the disease is so deadly is because patients are usually in later stages by the time the cancer is detected. Larger scale studies still need to be done before the test can go to market.
Kundranda had a full interview with Arizona Horizon here.
