Banner Health recently announced the launch of a new neurocritical service line to provide treatment to patients with neurological injuries.

That means people with strokes, seizures and other conditions can receive such services quickly, since doctors say time is of essence for treatment.

Banner Health also says the service line addresses post-cardiac arrest brain injury and spinal cord disorders. The goal of the treatment involves stopping the progression of brain injury and providing care for people. The services extend to patients at other hospitals.

That’s according to neurologist Khalid Alsherbini.

“We start that treatment at that location and then we continue it when they get to us and we provide them a quick evaluation especially if they need an emergent surgery or emergent intervention and then after that, we start our healing journey," he said.

Alsherbini says neuromonitoring devices and tools help with treating the injured brain.

According to Banner Health, one Phoenix man has already received the latest medical services.
