An eventful season for the Seton Catholic Preparatory High School girls basketball team in Chandler recently ended. Seton coach, Karen Self, became the winningest coach in state girls’ basketball history — more than 830 wins over three decades at the school.

Self played basketball at Arizona State University and says she pretty much always knew she wanted to get into coaching. After college, she was working at a YWCA, when she applied for the coaching job at Seton. She was 23 when she started her first season there.

Now, in addition to her regular coaching job, she’ll be an assistant coach later this spring at the Nike Hoops Summit — a joint venture between USA Basketball and Nike in Portland, Oregon, in which the best high school players in the United States take on those from the rest of the world.

The Show recently sat down with Self at Seton Prep.
