The latest BRICS summit takes place in Brazil on Sunday. BRICS is a coalition co-founded in 2009 by the nations of Brazil, Russia, India and China — they were joined in 2010 by South Africa, hence the acronym. The coalition has since expanded to include many additional countries, but this year’s summit looks like it will not include the leaders of original member countries Russia and China.
