What kind of Arizona tree are you?

Claire Lawton/KJZZ

This fall, The Show host Lauren Gilger had a conversation with Gary Ferguson, author of the new book "The Twilight Forest: An Elegy for Ponderosa in a Changing West."

Ferguson shared his concern — and love — for the ponderosa pine, admiring its cinnamon colored trunk, perfume of vanilla and butterscotch, and its gift of shade in dense forests. Ferguson estimates that we could lose up to 90% of the ponderosa pines across the Southwest over the next several decades due to climate change.

Lauren’s conversation got us thinking: What other native trees do we love in the state? And how do we relate to them? For a quick respite from the daunting statistics, take KJZZ's "What's my Arizona tree alter ego" quiz above!
